The purpose of this project was to create a collage of pictures using various tools, and to save the file with the smallest possible file size while maintaining the image quality. The theme of the image is "Scenic Oregon." It is 27k in file size, which is as small as I could compress it. The JPEG compression was set to 30%. At a higher percentage, the image becomes distorted and loses the photographic quality. In order to allow this web page to load faster, only a thumbnail of the image is displayed. Tools Used:

  • Scanner
      To scan in an image & save to my U:\.
  • Digital Camera
      Picture taken previous to project, image needed repair.
  • Screen Capture
      Screen capture made of a web page, then cropped to include only desired image.
  • Other
      Images obtained from the web, then cropped.

    Image Editing Tools:

  • LView Image Editor
      Used to scan an image.
  • Windows Screen Capture
      Used to make a screen capture of a web page.
  • Photoshop
      Used to crop and repair images.
  • MS Paint
      Used to decide the preliminary photo arrangement.
  • Paint Shop Pro
      Used for the main creation of the image, image repair, and image compression.
